As a wedding photographer turned family photographer, I've come to realize the deep value held within photographic heirlooms. To invest in photos as a family, whether it be the tiny details of your first little babe, or the fleetingness of tiny toddler wrist rolls. Whatever season you are in, with little littles, or about to leave the nest, family photos will live on not just within this generation, but in the generations to come.
As a mama to two littles myself, one an adventurous, curly haired toddler, and the other a tiny babe, I've found the best approach to capturing families is unforced, unposed, and unhurried. Family photos are notorious for feeling stressful-but why do they have to be? The stress is often felt by parents hoping their children sit still. Hoping they give a nice smile, instead of tongues out. But the reality? Kiddos, young and even school age, aren't designed to sit still. They are created to explore, roam, and be exactly who they are-children! You can expect sessions to be primarily documentary, allowing space for truthful interactions and moments. Of course, I will guide your family, but only in a way that feels most natural + true to who you are as a family! While we always get a few "fireplace mantle" shots (AKA-the all eyes on me), the majority of images will be movement filled!

FAQ
This is our first session, what should I know?
The one thing I always ensure parents of is this: you do not need to worry about your children perfectly following directions or being on their best behavior. I have seen one too many parents fret when their littles begin to wander away, meltdown mid session, or simply don't want to sit still. This is PERFECTLY okay, and in fact, normal. Kids aren't meant to be sitting still for long periods of time. That's why my approach, as written above, is relaxed, unhurried, and slow. Never, ever worry about how your children will "be". Simply show up as you are, expecting to have some sweet family time, including the everyday normals of childhood!
Are travel expenses included in your packages?
Travel prices are included for Raleigh, Durham, Triad regions, and certain portions of VA! Any locations outside these areas require a small travel feel! You can inquire to receive a direct quote for travel!
Can you recommend any locations?
Absolutely! Having photographed sessions across all of NC for several years, I have built a list of incredible locations, ranging from scenic views in the Blue Ridge Mountains, all the way to hidden fields in the small town I call home. Together, we will pick a location that feels right for your family.
do you still photograph weddings?
The big question! And the answer? Partially! We only take on a small handful (I'm talking quite literally a handful-only about 3-5) weddings a year! Our primary focus is families. As much as I love (and have loved for the past almost seven years) weddings, I am overjoyed to begin our new chapter in family photography!
